Math Olympiad is an International Club for sixth grade students. The goal of Math Olympiad is to stimulate a love for math and teach strategies for problem solving and introduce important concepts as an extension of what they learn in the classroom. Students are given a national test five times per year. To qualify for the club, students are given the chance to take a test at the beginning of the year. Students are chosen according to their score. Practice tests are given each week and discussed. Harnett Central Middle has 23 members on their Math Olympiad team this year. Math Olympiad is for students that enjoy math and provides them with practice using higher order thinking skills.
