My name is Mrs. Graveen and I teach 6th grade English Language Arts (ELA)!

From the beginning of my decision to teach after being home with my five children for 14 years, I wanted to teach 6th grade ELA! I was lucky to be able to begin in that position from the start. I truly enjoy teaching ELA and incorporating a variety of activities into my daily instruction. Along with whole-group lessons, I utilize review games, independent practice, partner work, grammar practice, learning/practicing cursive, literature groups with leveled texts, creating podcasts of book discussions, and academic vocabulary instruction. Instruction is informed by the beginning of the year diagnostic data. Therefore, students must arrive on the first day ready to show what they know! My ultimate goal is to provide a safe learning environment with experiences that will create a love of learning.

This fall of 2024 will begin my 9th year of teaching. I love Harnett Central Middle and was a student here during its first year of operation in 1993. I graduated from Harnett Central High School in 1997. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Fayetteville State University and completed my teaching certification at ECU.

Harnett County has been home for most of my life. My proudest accomplishments are my amazing five children: Solomon, Tava, Tyler, Aaron, and Terra. Recently, I gained a wonderful daughter-in-law, Breanna.  My children have all attended Harnett County Schools and I truly believe it is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. I look forward to having your child in my classroom!
