BUILD Harnett consisted of two events this year, carpentry and electrical.
BUILD Harnett events are made possible through the support and partnership of local business, industry (Harnett County Business Education Partnership), and Central Carolina Community College.
Practice instructional materials, supplies, and instructional tools for the event were made possible through the CTE Grants for Homebuilding through NCDPI and NC General Assembly.
These events showcase student talent in the trades and link students with local employers. The competition is evaluated based on a technical skills component as well as a resume portion. The Electrical event includes a written test from the NEC (National Electric Code) handbook. Students showcased skills and knowledge learned in CTE classes, through the NCCER credential program and shop projects.
Three winning teams were selected, along with a best resume from each event. Four of the buildings are auctioned off through HCBEP a 501c3. One building is donated to a local charity.
