Eligibility
All required forms including Physical, Consent to Treat, Concussion and Insurance must be on file with the school before trying out for any team.
High School Eligibility:
Eligibility is determined both by the NCHSSA and Harnett County Rules.
Eligibility is based on both grades and attendance. Families are encourage to monitor both of these areas throughout the school year.
Students must have passed the minimum course load in their prior semester.
NCHSSA Guidelines require a student to pass 70% of attempted courses.
Non credit courses such as Office Assistant and Flex will not count toward the required 70% as they do not receive a grade.
Students must be in attendance for 85% of the previous semester.
Beginning in the Spring of 2025, State Board of Education Policy determines the appeals process and it is not a local decision.
Documentation of absences will be a significant factor in the appeals process.
Doctors notes should be provided whenever possible.
Eligibility will be determined within the first 8 days of a semester and will remain in affect for the remainder of that semester.
Students are only eligible to participate at the school in the attendance area of their home unless properly reassigned to another school through the county reassignment process.
Reassignments may require a 75 day waiting period for athletic eligibility.
Reassignments made for the purpose of athletics may cause a student to be ineligible for 365 days.
Home School Student participation is determined by Harnett County Schools Board Policy 3620.
